The project was to develop planning options illustrating the effects of implementing the major goals and objectives of Self-Realization Fellowship. The feasibility studies incorporated all items identified in the temple building criteria, and programming and planning information.
The studies explored the feasibility of locating all temple program items on parcel 053. The closure of a portion of Cornish Drive was also explored. Surface parking and structured parking were considered. Vehicular access was considered from West bound worshippers approaching on Santa Fe Drive and eastern access on Cornish, Dewitt or Vulcan. Consideration was also given to the City and Railroad’s plans to lower and expand the train’s right of way. A pedestrian access to the temple was also incorporated into the study.
